Kartell welcomes black and welcomes you, on the Internet

KARTELL AT SALONE DEL MOBILE 2010

On April 14th 2010, Kartell will publicly appear at the Salone del Mobile di Milano with an unusual all-black look. Though a synonym for multicoloured plastic design in the imagination of all design lovers, this year Kartell has chosen this colour, or rather this non-colour, to be its distinctive character.

The Welcome Black 2010 Issue” is the concept which inspired Kartell’s stand at the Salone. One thousand square metres where as many as 16 new products will be displayed like true works of art, with an elegant layout recalling the rooms of a contemporary arts museum.

The stand was conceived and designed by Ferruccio Laviani, Kartell Art Director.

THE KARTELL DESIGNERS: DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, CONSTANT INNOVATION

The stand shall serve as a temple devoted to the “art of design” where to celebrate the most versatile and renowned artists on the world stage, including Philippe Starck, Piero Lissoni, Ferruccio Laviani, Patricia Urquiola, Tokujin Yoshioka, Mario Bellini, Nendo and Front.

Different languages of design – poetical and conceptual, conventional and irreverent – yet all united by creativity and constant innovation, for an extremely varied and eclectic collection.

KARTELL À LA MODE

Research and creativity have lead Kartell on the route to fashion: the Salone del Mobile will see the unveiling of the FW 2010 collection of footwear made from plastic material. New colours for the Glue Cinderella ballet flats, the Lady sandals and the Sofia boots.

KARTELL GALLERY: “THE INVISIBLES”, THE FUORISALONE ACCORDING TO TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA

On the same days of the furniture show, at its flag store di Via Turati, Kartell will present an installation entirely designed by Tokujin Yoshioka. The poetic and rarefied mood conceived by the Japanese designer creates an ethereal environment which exhibits 12 unique pieces sharing the lightness of their total transparency and the preciousness of maxi and solid shapes, marked by significant thickness. A one-of-a-kind collection, the embodiment of Kartell’s love for transparent plastic materials of which it has become a symbol acknowledged throughout the world.

The first event will be the “live” report from the Salone del Mobile di Milano: through updates on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Flickr, Kartell will tell about the designers, the people, the events and the product to make the public participate in one of this year’s most exciting events.
