In the spirit of charismatic luxury: the new Bulgari 2010 Fall – Winter accessories collection
Sensual convergences of day and night, evocative color paths that introduce new and intriguingly soft metallic tones: these are the distinguishing features of Bulgari’s new collection of women’s accessories for the 2010 Fall-Winter season, an exclusive selection that combines unmistakable Bulgari design, unconventional workmanship and the finest materials.
A captivating play of light and shadow created by bold juxtapositions and contrasts runs through the entire collection. The design draws on several stylistic sources simultaneously, among which unprecedented combinations of futuristic experimentation and Bulgari’s timeless history.
The palette alludes to the vibrant and multicolored realm of precious stones, where the predominant tones are purple, amber, blue and brick. This chromatic dynamism is framed in a more sophisticated and voluptuous way, where the charm and mystery of black and gray combine with the subtle glow of bronze and gold.
The materials
Gemstones appear on day bags, while the alternation between the brilliance of the metallic finishes and the full-bodied opacity of canvas and leather creates a continuous interplay of bright and subdued colors, of glossy and soft surfaces. The result is a shroud of mystery, where every detail embodies a luxury at once assertive and casual, merging to become the ideal background across which the colors move and mingle in suggestive and unexpected chromatic combinations.
Dynamism and variety characterize the use of materials in the new collection: ultra-supple calf and lambskin alternate with the exotic prestige of ostrich and python, the luxurious allure of waved patent leather, the lightweight practicality of canvas and the lush luminosity of satin.
The metal components once again play a key role, lending both lightness and weight to the models: seals, clasps and grommets sparkle with the subdued nuances of pink gold. All of the new creations stand out for the extraordinary quality and originality of craftsmanship, each model a consummate expression of the values of ‘Made in Italy’.
The Chandra bag
The star of this new scenario of intriguing contrasts and refined elegance is Chandra, the “couture-cut” bag that embodies the spirit of the entire collection, reflecting a conscious and charismatic femininity. Almost like a second skin, it naturally adapts to the personality of that rare woman with an innate esthetic proclivity for beauty in all its forms.
The tactile sensuality of Chandra, already an icon of Bulgari style, distinguishes the entire “Bulgari Bulgari” line. Its name, which means “moon” in Sanskrit, pays homage to the form and luminosity of that nocturnal orb, while its sinuous rotundity and radiant beauty evoke the exotic enchantment of warm and fragrant oriental evenings. The collection comes in a wide variety of colors and materials, such as calfskin dyed brick red or treated with a metallic effect in tones of bronze and steel, or python skin, whose conspicuous naturalness gives it a seductive animalier look. It also includes new models with stones arranged to create intricate tone-sur-tone embroideries at the juncture where the handles meet the bag.
The Leoni line
Class and sophistication are the defining traits of the Leoni line, where the traditional Bulgari emblem of facing lion heads is the centerpiece of an ample assortment that ranges from handbags to shoulder bags to contemporary cocktail clutches.
As always, the materials and hues are numerous and varied: wrinkled lambskin in bronze, purple and steel; pleated black nappa with a lamé effect; delicate satin in shades of black, gray, bronze and purple; the beauty of python, dyed in subtle tones of anthracite; the chromatic exuberance of ostrich leather in blue, lavender and amber. These are combined with modern touches of waved patent leather, which give rise to the exciting and unexpected fusion of cutting-edge style and exquisite traditional craftsmanship that has always characterized the Bulgari brand.
In the exclusive evening bag selection of clutches and purses, the spotlight falls on satin, adorned with ancient coins engraved with imperial profiles, emblems of a timeless classical perfection, as well as with pearls and crystals that create exquisite floral patterns.
The scarves
The collection of scarves draws its creative inspiration from the power of Bulgari iconography, presenting a series of models featuring some of the most successful motifs in the company’s history.
The epitome is “Serpenti”, where a classic Bulgari watch-bracelet decorated with precious stones and polychrome enamel is framed by a gourmette chain interspersed with ancient coins typical of Bulgari’s production of gemme nummarie. Woven entirely in silk tweed, the scarf comes in blue, dark violet, black and brown.
The “Leoni” scarf returns instead to the vintage Bulgari bracelet featuring two mirrored lion heads, cloaked in silky splendor against a ramage motif background, available in beige, gray, mauve and blue.
New sunglass models for the 2010 Fall-Winter season
The collection is completed by a range of sunglasses whose shaded lenses and ample rims re-evoke the stylish ‘70s.
First is a Special Edition from the Serpenti line, where crystals are set into the temples to create a design inspired by a diamond necklace from the Bulgari High Jewelry collection.
In the Parentesi line, the iconic motif graces the hinges of the acetate frame, markedly casual in design, available in the classic tones of black and tobacco as well as in the bold new colors of brown-streaked honey and violet-streaked pink.
Elegance and glamour are the keys to the Tubogas line, where the historic motif created by Bulgari is illuminated by crystals on the temples of the rounded acetate rims, whose colors range from black, honey and tobacco to velvety blue and brown.
Last is a completely new line which features convex cut glass stones on the temples of an acetate frame, with rims available either in single color or two-tone versions.
This new model is a tribute to the cabochon cut, a defining characteristic of the Bulgari tradition, and creates a seductive chromatic play through the juxtaposition of contrasting colors, including amethyst, emerald, ruby and sapphire.
