A nutrition think tank: Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition
The upcoming food challenges can be addressed only within a global perspective that accounts for all the environmental, economic, cultural and social changes underway on the planet.
THE BARILLA CENTER FOR FOOD AND NUTRITION: WHAT IS IT?
The Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition was founded in recent months with the clear-sighted goal of creating a team of some of the world’s foremost food and nutrition experts to formulate proposals and outline paths of action for responsible husbandry of the world’s resources. The issues of global warming, malnutrition, population growth, water management, and globalization all demand serious thinking, and the Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition seeks to make its contribution in a multidisciplinary framework with the final objective of providing recommendations and guidelines to opinion leaders and decision makers regarding nutrition, the environment, the economy and food culture.
“As entrepreneurs and business leaders,” explains Guido Barilla, “our sense of responsibility, as well as our values, competencies and commitment, prompt us into action that is clearheaded yet driven by a sense of urgency to mobilize all available resources to find responses to the pressing issues we face today. As a food sector company, we are well aware of the key role played by food and nutrition for the wellbeing of future generations, a role that will only become more important as time goes on”.
